Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis and World Tourism Organization Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili met on Thursday on the sidelines of the 66th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe, being held in Athens on June 2-4, ANA reports.
They discussed travelers’ health safety as the most significant determinant factor for tourist flows among the world’s countries.
Theoharis added that the Covid-19 pandemic seems to have subsided faster since Greece reopened its tourism on May 15, and he said this justifies the country’s strategy and timing for rebooting its tourism industry.
Meanwhile, Pololikashvili praised Greece’s leading role in the European effort to restart the tourism industry.
